Termination from FMO

I'm confused by what they mean by termination. Whatever FMO you are moving to should be able to help answer these questions.

It sounds like you are changing upline, from independent under AGA, to being independent under another upline, possibly direct with the carrier.

If you are trying to wait out the 6 months of no production, I think you can submit the new contracting after 4/10.

The use of the word "termination" is a bit confusing here. It sounds like they are trying to get you to communicate with them, likely to attempt to right any wrongs and keep you in their hierarchy.

If you don't submit new contracting under another hierarchy, I would think you would remain under AGA. Either way, you should continue to get paid by carriers when you write business, as long as you're "ready to sell."

I don't know all the details, but whatever issue they are emailing you about, that you have been ignoring... even if they made your AEP hell...it may be best to reconcile that issue. The passive aggressive approach may not work in your favor.

You may be in this business for decades, no need to make any enemies

Well I already consider them my enemies and don't even mind if they terminate me . So that's neither here or there… I just want to know what happens to my enrollments/clients and my commissions. I want to go directly with the carriers with no FMO whatsoever which the carriers said I can do when I decided to go with the delayed release.

I'm assuming the word termination means that they will no longer be my hierarchy which I've been wanting since October anyways. I just wonder how do they present that I am terminated to the carriers and what will be the next step moving forward

Well, it sounds like you are currently appointed as an independent agent, not LOA, since you said you are paid directly by the carriers. As such, your clients are yours and they follow you. With most carriers I think you will keep the same writing number you have currently.

You said you spoke with the carriers and they said you could do this, appoint direct. Have you asked them all these same questions? Ideally, your upline, would answer all these questions, as it's pretty standard when moving away from an upline.

I don't think I have any contracts direct with a carrier, except BCBS OK, which I intend to move to an FMO soon. I have had the opposite experience of you, where I find direct contracts to carriers to be less helpful. It is rare for carrier support actually understands what I have to deal with.

How do they present your termination to the carriers? They don't really do anything, but you likely have to do some new contracting, to remove the hierarchy. It's not really something AGA will do, unless they were signing a release, but even then, that would be relevant in the process of doing new contracting.

In regards to your commissions, you would still continue to be paid just like normal. AGA would be paid the override on the renewal sales you made while you were in their hierarchy. That won't impact you.

It's been a long time since I had to go through this, but it all works out. You'll be writing those carriers again soon. Just make sure you do the new contracting, after your 6 months. The new contracting will say who the upline is. Within the new contracting, there is a step that will determine if you need a release, or not (6 months no production).

I will add, that you can always add new companies, that you have not written before, no need to wait 6 months. It may be helpful to do this now, to get familiar with what to expect.

How come i always have read over the yrs if your going to switch fmo's you should do it before 3/31? I believe if you self release in Jan,Feb or March it's only a 90 day wait ?

It's best to do it 1/1 the first day of January because the 90 days start when you submit the release. Exa- I did it 1/10 so my 90 days is 4/10.

So does that 90 days apply any time of yr ?Like is you do 6/1 will you release 9/1 . Or you do 5/1 will you release 8/1 ? I know there's black out periods as you approach aep .

I would assume if you're doing a " delayed release " meaning going thru the carriers asking to be released from your FMO. Yes the black out period starts in October so that's why most so 6 months.. Meaning Oct-March

Some carriers have shorter times I found out. Cigna & Devoted told me 60 days
