Texas Agents: Need Your Help!

Hopefully some Texas agents on this board can help me out with this. A company I may begin working with an insurer that requires me to pay the licensing fees. They want 300 bucks but this does not include fees for testing, fingerprinting or classes. The Tx DOI website only lists a fee of $50. tdi.state.tx.us/licensing/agent/revaglitygllah.htmlWhat is the rest going to? Are there some costs associated with appointment I'm not aware of? Also I don't believe I am to be reimburse once I pass the test; is the standard in the industry?

P.S. This is my first post, just wanted to say hello to all and extend a big thankyou to any that may be able to help/

I am a new agent in Texas. I paid for my own class, test, licensing, etc. Your sponsor is probably charging you the cost of the class which is odd. All companies will pay for it if and when they hire you, provided you will stay with them for a year or two.

You can do the class online, on your own time, cheaper than $300. Some companies will reimburse you the cost you incur if you negotiate it right during the interview.

They may want money upfront for e+o and appointments. Its unlikely they will reimburse you for licencing as that is yours whether you stay with them or not.Where in Texas are you?

Big red flag....who is recruiting you......

I suggest do your due diligence. Talk to other companies, weigh your options before you make a decision. It might take a while and listen to what others are telling you at this forum: "Run like hell...."
