I guess my state has arrived at the crumbling edge of health delivery reform. Can't tell whether we are ahead or behind the national curve here. Anyway, I am all for it.

"The Clinic at Walmart" Man, that sounds like a Bed and Breakfast Spa doesnt it?

Perhaps I could get funds from Acorn to open "Medicare By the Sea" clinics.

Got my flu shot from my pharmacist last week too so you can see where this is all headed and basically I think it is a good thing as long as they confine themselves to no-brainer/algorythm-driven medical care.

Okay now the part of the bill excusing veterinarian student loans makes sense...not enough Docs for Humans just make Animal Docs accept new types of patients

Can you say Swine Flu? :D (Am I the only one who had to check if they heard correctly?)

Works for me. I would rather be treated by an American vet than some of the Pakistani docs that are coming.

Just say WOOF to health care reform!

We use Minute Clinic located at our local CVS - no longer see our family doctor. Why? Because anytime we need to go it's typically an ear infection or sinus infection for my son or recently my wife got a mild case of bronchitis.

Calling our family doc? "Is it an emergency? No? We can see you in 3 days." Thee days of misery is three days too much - anyone ever have a child with an ear infection?

But we walk into Minute Clinic, 20 minutes later we're out with the meds and on our way home.

Oh I am all for these clinics, They just are not available near me...As a consumer and knowledgeable parent I would love for there to be different levels of care that I could decide upon as the consumer...Child has ear infection quick trip to clinic for Rx since a lot of Dr visits are for these things then the waiting time at Drs goes down Drs office can raise price and maybe actually spend more than 5 minutes in the room for more indepth things...

I wasnt really so much poking at the idea of urgent care or quick care clinics being new. We have had them for about thirty years or more even in Maine. What I think is somewhat of a game changer is Walmart getting into it. I think the implications for health care delivery in the country are major. Maybe the government should give them the seed money rather than the public option :)

We all know that they have their limitations so we can skip that discussion but nevertheless there is still an enormous amount of routine, rote, gruntwork clinic work that could be done more affordably and with greater access. Plus Achmed needs a job when he gets off the plane from Pakistan and so do the two nurse practitioners who are feeling a little entrepreneurial.

Blue light specials anyone?
