The Future of MA Plans

That is the inital proposed amount, but I think that is highly likely to change. That figure assumes a 20% reduction in provider pay that is scheduled to go into effect, but is almost certain to be killed. This is the scheduled reduction that has been postponed for the last couple of years already.

Didn't H6331 kill that reduction in provider pay? And... wasn't it more like 10.4%.

The reductions were scheduled to be implemented at rough 5% per year. The first 2 years were postponed, so a cumulative increase of 15.4% was supposed to have been in place by 1/1/09. There is another cut scheduled this year. Google "medicare physician payment cuts" and you'll find articles.

2010 MA payments increase 0.5%!

...and medical costs are up by at least 6%. There is still plenty of time for the reimbursements to be lowered. I think it's a safe bet that benefits are going to get reducted for 2010. A lot plans that are putting their bid designs together are making one version under the .5% increase (which is really closer to a 5.5% decrease when medical costs are factored in) and another set of plan designs if reimbursements get cut more drastically.
How many agents on here are shifting away from MA towards other products?

I've moved my entire focus back to med supps.
