UHC gave in to competitive pressures and public officials' demands...

Excerpt: "UnitedHealthcare, which had initially filed for prices generally higher than competitors Aetna Inc., CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and Kaiser Permanente, lowered its rates by about 10 percent this week across the board.
Now, a 27-year-old would pay $208 instead of $231 per month for a bare-bones United plan (at the "bronze" level). A 40-year-old seeking a richer plan at the "silver" level would pay $341 instead of $370 a month

The $208 for a "bare-bones" plan is still 120% MORE per month than the comparable HSA policy costs today. A victory for D.C. citizens? Short answer... NO.

Aetna does the same. Only 5% and only on small group HMO. It's a win, I swear it's a "win".........winner.....oh wait, what are the prices?

With the cuts, Aenta's average "bronze level" HMO plan for a 40-year-old employee will now cost $225 a month, down from $237. A richer benefits package, a "gold level" plan, will cost $385 a month, down from $407. All of Aetna's products for individuals and its PPO products remain the same.
