So I have a question for you guys...been chasing the state fund in Utah (WCF) for almost six years... their marketing rep gives me the run around every year... background we are an agency that writes a lot of heavy construction like excavating, road paving, etc.. we have a very healthy book size with the California state fund as well as a crap ton of package accounts in Utah but a lot we have to send direct to WCF. I have sent well over 250k in the last year to them... when you check the utah doi site there is a rather disturbing pattern. The only agencies with appointments are leavitt affiliates, Arthur Gahliger, HUB, Buckner... basically 52 agencies appointed 25%+ are leavitt... another ten are alphabet houses like HUB and Arthur Gahliger and then there are a very small few local "large" houses.
So my issue is they don't have any wholesale access like other funds and they receive to this day the 501c benefits as well as other tax benefits... that being coupled with being the insurer of last resort my thoughts is there should at least be wholesale access but there is not... I've been told all the big locals and alphabet houses are in bed with them to box out and hamper other agencies growth.
What can be done ???? I'm thinking possibility of a DOI complaint given the carrier operates as a pseudo state run entity with most if not all the tax benefits but they are running their appointment process like a private carrier which they claim to be... sort of a catch 22 if you ask me
Any thoughts???
