Ouch!! I have had many unpleasant conversations this year. Had a client quit on me when he was dumb enough to not lock in his low rate, was automatically enrolled in a compliant plan, and the premium 2x.
He said he will go without insurance until the Republicans fix this, AND HE HAD KIDS!!!

I kept warning him, but you can't fix stupid.

I watched this video and honestly don't know where these numbers come from, does their broker know anything?

They didn't provide detailed information but one of them, Judy, who is 53 and has children, is now supposed to pay $1350 a month for her coverage.

I checked Assurant rates in McKeesport, PA, and Judy's premium for a Gold plan with $0 deductible is $485.

A child rate for a Gold plan is $155

Silver plans for them ($1850 deductible, copays, etc) are $407 and $128.

She could easily keep her current rate by putting the family on individual Silver plans and taking advantage of the company contribution towards her coverage. Even 3 kids plus a spouse would most likely come out the same or less as her current coverage.

But that isn't a good story for the media, is it?

Last month the President was making his rounds on Television shows that young adults tune into. He implored young Americans to get their priorities in proper order, because ObamaCare health insurance costs less than their Cell phones and other electronic "needs".

To boot, she even presumed the recipient is in the middle of the subsidy-eligible FPL range.

If you make $25k/year pre-tax in NYC, you honestly wouldn't be able to afford rent, food, and clothes, let alone cable/cell/insurance bills. Even out on Long Island, $800/month plus utilities is pretty standard for a 1-bedroom studio with no kitchen. To say she's being generous is an under statement.

But, what do you expect? Politicians are allowed to give answers with a margin of error + or - 100%.
