We Have to Pass It to See What's in It...

Coventry cancelled my HMO contract with them without cause. I tried to copy and paste the text of their document on here but couldn't. I lost 16,000 of 2011 commissiions and renewals with a click of their mouse. They cited the new CMS rules regarding being appointed to get commissions.

They also recently raised the passing test score on their AHIP to 90 or was that AHIP that did that for everyone. Either way, this was just another cookie of obama care thrown to the health care companies to get on board.

I'd stay away from Coventry.

Several issues here.

1. the title of the thread is misleading - it should say, coventry sucks

2. why blame Pelosi for your failure to be appointed? I wouldn't think that is something reserved exclusively to Obamacare.

3. This is a troubling new trend. See my previous posts about Blue Cross of Texas (a/k/a BC of Illinois OKlahoma and New Mexico). Their contract states, straight up - they can terminate with 60 days notice with no cause needed, and once they cancel, no further commissions are payable - period.

This is horse puckey. I admit I did not bother to review the contract - in general, you aren't going to change things anyway. But at a minimum, I thought Blue Cross would operate above board when it comes to taking care of agents. Ha!

Stay away from Blue Cross of Texas (IL OK NM) folks! I am quietly shipping my handful of folks to other carriers and then I will personally activate the 60 days notice to Blue Cross and tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine.

You may be right about the title. I used a similar one to yours in the senior life section. I didn't fail to get appointed though. I jumped through all the AHIP and recert hoops as I do with them every year. After I wrote 23 apps in SEP for people coventry cancelled on another plan, they sent me a term letter via email and the author of the letter did not respond to my inquiries as to why I was termed.

Funny how they waited until after I wrote 23 apps in 4 weeks. I had been complaining to them about past due commissions that were piling up. The commission statements were never over, always under. Funny how that works out. They were at the point where they owed me a couple of grand.

It may be the best thing for me though. I no longer have to deal with a frustrating company and I'll roll EVERYTHING over I can, including MAPD's that were written before they started paying renewals (2005-2008).

Avoid coventry at all costs. They are impossible to deal with.

They won't pay the commissions you already earned?

Took my renewals, took my new biz commissions. Gone. I estimate it to be 15 to 17 thousand that would have been paid out in 2011 alone. Not to mention the out years. I'm rolling as much of it as I can. Problem is, I'm having a hard time getting sales kits for the other company.

Most of the people I have in these plans are life customers of mine. So I wish them luck in trying to say I contacted their customers.
