Wegovy/Ozempic/Zepbound for weight loss

281
Through 2023 I've seen quite a bit of Wegovy being picked up by Medicaid on duals in Michigan for weight loss.

I didn't think Medicare D picked up the cost of these weight loss drugs.

Medicaid has been.

Now, I'm coming across one I have not seen. Zepbound on non-duals. It seems to be the same as Mounjaro (Tirzepatide), but prescribed for weight loss in a case I came across last night.

Does anyone know anything on the weight loss drugs.. I know theyd need to be PAd. The guy I came across last night, had just A and B, and a terrible PDP. Wants a C.

He just had a gain in LIS, so could prob use that SEP but leery on the PA on his Zepbound.

Im leaning on not writing this one just yet. He's also about to gain two dependents, will in about 3/4 months qualify for medicaid as well

They won't be authorized without a current diagnosis of diabetes.
Thats what I was thinkin I hear swirlings of Medicare going to start covering it. Just not sure when

We will find out...he's not my client now. Once he's on Michigan Medicaid though, theyd approve it here. Most likely.

Thanks.
