If we (the agents) will not be compensated to sell in this new Reform era, what about becoming a consultant? Would a small business pay someone to help them make sense of what's for sale by the Goberment?

This is a tough one with the small business. A smart business owner would say yes to having a consultant. Most would not.

Could be ABC...it might take a couple of interaction with the goberment before a consultant's value would be realized.

When HIPC was introduced in CA (many years ago), it orginally did not include agent compensation for small group plans in the exchange.

This was changed later on when HIPC realized that something like 85% of businesses purchasing through the exchange agreed to pay the extra agent commission fee on top of the HIPC premium. Originally on HIPC the client could either buy direct or agree to have an agent for an extra premium fee.

Most chose to add the "consultant" and pay for it.

Great video. Great motivation. Great Instruction. However, this is ALL NULL and void concerning health insurance due to the FACT that the NAIC has already put out a statement that brokers will NOT be able to sell a health insurance plans to someone that qualifies for subsidy through the exchange. Read NAIC " Special Section -Health Care Reform" http://www.naic.org/index_health_reform_section.htm. , you will instantly understand there is very little need for health insurance agents. If you look at your Self-Employed book of business you will see a range 50-70% of your clients will qualify for SUBSIDY and buy the plan through the exchange online. Sorry guys and gals…that's all she wrote.

I must have missed it and I read the entire link. Specifically point out where it says that.

If you are referring to the section:What are "Exchanges"? Can I still purchase coverage through my agent?" it did not say it there.
