What's the Sense in Writing It?

Just looked at plans M and N in Alabama with United World. They are now approved for writing. Plan N for a 65 year-old female non-smoker in lower Alabama is $75.59 a month. Plan F is $101.46 a month! Difference is $25.87 a month. What's the sense in writing anyone N? You're losing the part B deductible being paid($155) + adding a $20 co-pay for doctor visits and adding a $50 co-pay for ER only visits.

Get this...they keep the commission the same! I'm getting 16% on UW in Alabama, so at $75.59 a month x 12 months=$907.08 x .16%=$145.13 per policy. Just wait til 2011 if it goes down to 5%. $45.35 per policy for plan N in southern Alabama. Might as well write true-up PDP's.

Props to the Alabama DOI for approving the modernized plans in a timely fashion. You hear that Tallahassee.

For some of our younger ones there isn't much difference, but for the older groupings... there is a BIG difference.

True...for an 85 year-old non-smoking female in the same zip-code, the difference between N and F is $40.04 a month.

I heard that in Ohio that plan N is a GI plan. That can be usefull to those people stuck in a over priced plan with a pre X . But the commission still won't pay for the gas to write it in 2011.

In Alabama, plan N is fully underwritten....ALL health questions have to be answered. Florida is the ESRD question only for plan N w/MoO, when it's approved.

And with this post I join the 1,000 Mile Club! WOOHOO!

For example: In MO I have a H/W couple, both age 71, currently on Plan G with UOO. They get a nice 20% rate up in May. Changing them to N saves them $101/mo. They can pay for a hell of a lot of copays with $100/mo in savings. I get a $3/mo increase in commissions.

I stand corrected. Plan N with United World in Alabama is guaranteed issue! No health questions!
