Hi

I am really interested in learning how to sell annuity. The company I am with wants me to go out and just bring in the business and then they would walk me thru it. I am feeling really uncomfortable and would like to get some sort of basic information before I make that leap. Any suggestion or recommendation would be helpful?

Thanks

Call up Glenn Neasham out of Cali. I'm pretty sure he does stuff with annuities.

I was going to say funny...But come to think of it I don't believe you need a license to work for a wholesaler or FMO...Glenn might want to think about this when he gets out of the pokey.

My advice is to get some basic info about your products...ie what is the minimum premium for both qualified and non qualified money (I'm assuming you know the difference), and ask your clients if they would be interested in possibly getting a better rate of return on thier safe money.

Get the information on those fund where is it..ie bank account, mutual funds another annuity etc, find out when surrender charges are up, qualified or non qualified money and how much is in the accounts and what they are currently earning and that you will see if you can beat thier numbers...That would be an easy way to start.

Feel free to contact me on here or via email...I don't offer contracts and I don't sell coaching...I'm just a producer willing to help some people get a foot in the door.

I'm sure their lawyers and E&O is going to love that. I can just hear the plaintiff's attorney now. "Jury, let me remind you, the man they hired to teach about annuities is a convicted felon! Not only that, he was convicted of using annuities to defraud a senior citizen! With dementia! Need I say any more as to the character of this organization?!?"

Yeah I can see it...But he would be on par with some of the snakes that are already in the FMO channel.

You can call me up if you want some help figuring out some annuities ideas for MN as I'm up in St. Cloud. But, you may also want to first read through the Buyer's Guide to Annuities or take the Annuity training class to give you more of an understanding of everything. I have no problem training Agents, just prefer them to come to me with a background on the subject so I don't have to start with Annuity Glossary 101...

If your company wants you to just bring qualified people to them and they will help you sell annuities it sounds like it's probably a captive shop anyway and they should be giving you some sort of training before the tell you to hit the field.. Previous posts are correct, sounds like if they operate this way you better have your E&O paid up..

Don't read the Buyer's Guide for Annuities. It is outdated and inaccurate. There is a new version that I helped to draft, which is making its way through the NAIC as we speak.

My advice to you would be to start at 'The Basics' on my website at AnnuitySpecs dot com. Then, make sure you have a good FMO who provides you with strong support. If the one you have right now has the attitude, "Just go out and sell," it sounds like they are not earning their override.

Just my two cents. sjm
