Why I Don't Like the Cloud

I have mentioned before that I don't want to go to a web based system for something that I work with all the time, like CRM. Today is a good reminder why. My internet is out, it appears to be the connection, and the first scheduled appointment is the 25th. I really prefer to have all my mission critical apps on my desktop.

my cloud-based CRM's allow you to have all of your data and most of the functionality on your desktop for instances like what you've experienced today.

ooh, didn't realize that. Maybe I should take another look. Which of your crm's do you think would be best for someone starting out?

I use Salesfirce too. I'm a one person operation but I LOVE how ive customized it, can keep track of stuff when I'm mobile. I'm a big fan of covering my a?? And it keeps everything together. I just cant figure how to put in commissions.

just put in some commission fields and run a report.

I like the cloud. Except when it doesn't work as happened with Zoho for a whole business day a few months ago. I don't think I've used it since then. They kept tweeting "just a little longer" "just another hour" or whatever all day long. File that in the you get what you pay for category, of course.

I also like my laptop except when it doesn't work.

Check out the Skydrive terms and conditions and accounts being shut down unexpectedly for another cautionary tale about the cloud.
