Will Commissions Be Cut for Medicare Under the Reform?

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the HealthCare Reform and Med Supps and MA's. Does anyone know if the Commissions for these plans will be Cut or paid as a flat fee? All replys welcomed and appreciated. Thank you very much.

I see where it states that for MA, but I don't see where it says that for Med Supp. Being "supplemental" insurance, I am not sure they would be subject to the 85% rule.

With regards to MA, here is another perspective...

Much of the revenue for these policies comes directly from the government, not premiums. I would guess that half of the MAs in my local area are $0 premium policies, and the other policies certainly don't have high premiums (ranging from $29 - $100+). So when viewed as a group, my guess is that many of the companies are paying over 100% of premium dollars on claims. As a result, I would think they could still maintain commissions at a competitive rate.

Of course, I am no MA expert and this is just my personal speculation. I would love to hear what others think.

Yes, I think it will be cut eventually. Just look who Obama appointed (by recess) head of Medicare.

His goal is to have Medicare go the way of England's Health Care.. Eventually putting everyone in the same Pool: Medicare and Medicaid being combined. Step 1 was to get rid of the Advantage Plans.

Medicaid does not require a supplement, and eventually, neither will Medicare.

I am not so sure about this. With 70 million baby boomers about to come on board and with people living so much longer there is no way this country could afford to make Medicare pay 100%. I'd actually like to think that Medicare would be scaled back to where it pays only 70% or something like that. Then we would have job security boys!

Medicaid is going in the red, yet they just expanded that., so what makes you think they wont do the same to Medicare?

Dont misunderstand me, I agree with your point of view, I believe it will bankrupt this Country,, but the people in Washington don't agree with you or I, just look at how things have been progressing, the take over of GM, Wall Street, the Banks, then Obama Care. Politicians in Washington are not doing what is right, or what is fiscally sound, or even what the People want, ( just look at our Debt) What they are doing is just the opposite,. and again, look who Obama appointed Chief of Medicare in Recess Appointment (over the weekend while Congress had gone home, so no Hearings) and what his views are, and what he has said on record..

Some people are saying that Social Security and Medicare will be Needs based. If you make too much money or have too much in savings you will not be able to get your benefits until you are broke. Some people said you should travel the world and blow it all by retirement age.
