Will Commissions Be Cut for Medicare Under the Reform?

Hi All,

Does anyone know how commissions will be affected for Med Supps and MA's? Will they be reduced like in Health plans now we are seeing. Or will it be a flat rate? Please let me know. All reply's welcomed. Thank you very much.

Med supps have had a 65% mlr for around 15 years. I font think supps were touched at all. MA I do not and will not sell so someone else would have to comment on that.

I believe that as long as the commies are in charge, Medicare will be changed to limit the out of pocket to something other than "unlimited." If plans for those under 65 must have a limit, it wouldn't be fair to our seniors to have no limit.

So, my prediction is that Medicare will cap the out of pocket to around $4-5K. If this does happen, there will be no reason for anyone to buy a supplement.

Remember, Obamacare is not designed as anything else but the frist step to single payer. Why would anyone think that those on Medicare would not be included?

As far as MA plans, their days are even more limited. Once again, Obama and his minons do not like anything privatized. First the banks, then car companies, then healthcare, then the world!

It's all about control.

First I'm not disagreeing with you about what might be coming down the pike and you could be perfectly right that Obama could impose a total oop on Medicare of 4-5K and Supps would be non-existant.

I also don't think he would care that this would only speed up the process of Medicares implosion. Medicare & SS are already going broke, No one that I know of think Obamacare will either change that or not cause Obamacare to spiral out of contol as well, Where will all the money come from to pay for all this, China won't keep buying our debt forever and if Obama thinks they will then....What am I thinking he thinks retasking NASA to make Muslims feel better about themselves will make them not hate us anymore.

Nobody is buying our debt but the presses are still rolling. Obama does not care about the deficit and just like the slight of hand bullshit he used in the healthcare bill, he might just do the same with Medicare. After all, seniors vote and he wants their vote.

When the "Part D" prescription part of Medicare was passed, my MedSup commission dropped from 20% to 13%. The company said that they needed to reduce overall admin costs and agents needed to share the burden. Sounds a lot like what we're hearing now due to ObamaCare.

You asked a very good question. Your question was directed to the current reform legislation, not what may happen some day in the future.

The answer is NO, Med Supps are not going to be effected by the current reform legislation.

No one knows for sure that the world is not going to come to an end on December 12, 2012 yet the "experts" seem to think there is a "real" possibility.

Maybe we should get the "experts" views on that first before we trouble ourselves with discussions about commissions. It sure would save a lot of worry and time typing if it is going to come to an end.

I would really be interested in knowing the name of the company. I'm not aware of any Med Supp company that has cut agents commissions as a direct result of Medicare initiating Part D.

I have seen commissions reduced in the last seventeen years by only a very few Med Supp companies and it had nothing to do with Part D.

On the other hand, I have seen increases in commissions during that time. MOO increased commissions on Plan N when they released it.

It sounds like you need to find a new company to represent.

Frank, it was MOO that cut my commissions from 20% to 15% in 2004 and from 15% to the present 13% in 2007. Since SMS (SeniorMarketSales.com) is in the "food chain" between me and MOO, perhaps they had something to do with it?

With my health clients aging and nearing age 65 in increasing numbers, it's probably a good time to seriously look at getting the middle-man (SMS) out of the equation if they're tapping my income, yet providing no value. Thanks a million for the compensation insight Frank!

Appreciatively,

Sorry, didn't mean to "make your day".

I have sent you a PM showing the contracts I offer in Illinois.
