Hey guys,
Who here is an Indy who works from home?
I'm interested how you structure your business card?
And set clients at ease if they ask about your office.
I currently work in an office, where we do medicare select,
and I am going full time FE.
Any help for:

I work from my home office and have only had one client ever ask me if I had an office.... and my reply was "yes".

If pressed, I would say "my home office".... many businesses work from home offices these days. I don't think many people care... especially with health insurance products. It's not like they are would want to stop by and visit... my address is on my card, though. The best thing for your business card (IMHO) is a toll-free number. Of course, I travel a ways for appointments into counties where a call to my home office would be a toll charge without the 888 number. Most people would rather speak to you on the phone than visit an office... usually an office visit means going out of their way to get to your office, and then may have to wait, etc., etc. P & C is another thing altogether... people expect a brick & mortar office for claim filing, etc.

Frankly, I started a business out of my home (environmental services and engineering) and I was worried to death about being at a residential address. What I found is I don't think it matters to 99% of the people. What matters is you, your personality, your professionalism, and your knowledge. I was so successful that I out grew my home office within 8 months.

I have no toll-free number. 99% of my policyholders are within 50 miles of where I live and work. It's only a toll-charge for them to call(25 cents, if out of the local area), or 7 cents a minute or zilch if they use a cell-phone.

I use to have a P.O. box but got tired of going to the post-office and wasting gas to get my mail. Plus, I would go by there at 10:30 and sometimes they still wouldn't have all of the mail up. I have everything come to my house + the mail runs here about 10-10:30 am.

I'm like others...99% never ask about coming to my office. I always go out to see the folks or do what I can over the phone. It also helps to tell them I have a couple of house dogs and one may try and nip their ankle.;)

I just signed up with Regus - it gives me a biz address and they forward the mail. Better than that it gives me a certain amount of hours per month for office space so I can get out of the house when I want. I don't mind working from home but there are days when I'd rather be out of the house.

I had an office for several years. My building sold and I moved to my home office. Not only do I have a lot more freedom my expenses are nearly $2k less a month. I use my home address on my cards. I have toll free numbers, two of them so I can track different mailings, ect. Some folks ask if I have an office, but so far it has made little difference.

It does affect the types of opportunities I pursue. I do less financial advisor work, but I am doing more of the other lines as my client base grows and refers business.
