2009 commissions

Noble sentiments, but, realistically, are you going to want to continue working in the Medicare Advantage arena when there is no continuity from year to year? Can you afford to spend 2-3 hours for appointment, not to mention the time servicing the account? I don't mean to imply that the renewal commision isn't large enough, but this whole system is predicated on there actually being renewals in subsequent years. How long does the average mapd policy stay on the books?

I suspect that there will be far fewer enrollments this AEP and OEP. Since the system is designed around churning, the less competitive carriers that relied on high first year commission to entice agents into selling their plans will be s_____d.

I don't disagree, but it is too late to worry about it this year. I will adjust my business model (change what I sell ;) ) after OEP, but for now I am going with the flow.

I took off most of Monday and Today for an AssCam appt. I aged in, and it was time to take pictures of where no man has ever been :D

:idea:But.. the rest of the week my wife has at least 5 appts a day with current and potential clients. I'll worry about the money later. It may not be enough to feed me but I don't live on Medicare alone, and the other business I do because I help people with Medicare makes it worth the time and effort.

Yup, it will probably change for the worse next year, and anyone who is ONLY making their living from MA plans will settle for less money and more uncertainty. Medicare has set the stage for agents to churn business and burn bridges.
