2014 Subsidy Calculator for Expensive Exchange Policies

2014:
A couple with 2 kids, both spouses working making $46,000 each gets a $8,118 tax credit.

Bot spouses get a 3% cost of living raise in 2015 raising their gross income to $92,700. Their new tax credit $0.

Corporations are going to love this:
A Government Regulated Salary Cap For Employees!

People will be turning down promotions and raises because it will cost them too much money.

A 60 year old person making $46,000 gets a raise of 2%. He is now out of luck. Making $46,000, he got a $5,800 tax credit, his company pays him another paltry $920 and he loses the tax credit completely.

Won't happen. A scenario like this would kill productivity. There would be no incentive to work harder, it would destroy the economy.

but it DID happen

maybe you were on vacation in Sicily or something??

we're not making this up

those people are soooo f'in clueless (people in Congress)

Either that is part of the master plan to "save" the program from implosion or an oversight that will be corrected via indexing.

Of course this entire Ponzi scheme assumes there will be enough money to pay for Obamacrap and all the other stupid handouts.

It hasn't been implemented yet. There is still time to realize the mistake. They won't fix everything, but they will have to fix the disincentive to work.

fix the disincentive to work.

That is already built into the welfare system. Now we also have a disincentive to pay off your debts. This whole thing is going to come crashing down very soon.

After clicking through a couple of the more recent state calculators this evening, I couldn't understand why some calculators only ask for the age of the oldest spouse.

Now I see that the premium varies depending on the spouse's age as expected, but the subsidy amount also varies, to keep the family's out-of-pocket monthly premium the same, no matter what the spouse's age, as long as he/she is the same age or younger.

Most of you probably knew this, but it was news to me.
