Aetna's enrollment reached 720,000 by May 20, after the final end to the the extended open enrollment period. But by the end of June Aetna had less than 600,000 paying customers, IBD reports, and the company expects paying customers to fall to "just over 500,000″ by the end of 2015. That would be a drop of just under 30 percent from the May sign-up numbers

It could be just one carrier's experience.

I'm sure the White House will spin it to say that 140% of those that cancelled went to other carriers for a net gain.

Doesn't surprise me. Most of the new enrollees didn't have H.I. for a reason (financial), even after subsidies some people can not afford an extra bill. It is more of a numbers game, than any other insurance product IMO

Aetna expects a 2-year 30% shrinkage even when factoring in new enrollments from May 20, 2014 thru December 31, 2015? Sounds like the company is preparing to exit the IFPlan market all-together.

Aetna's premiums are so high in Illinois, no one would miss them.

Actually, I am surprised they even showed up at the dance. They only have a handful of plans in GA, none on the exchange. They pay less than any other carrier and their plans are not competitive.

But other than that...................

I wonder if it will be the healthy enrollees or the sickos that drop their coverage? I wonder what that will do to the rates?
