Thanks to everyone who donated to buy sleeping bags for the homeless people in my hometown. This forum's total donations thus far total $350. That was enough to purchase 17 sleeping bags, including taxes and shipping. That is 21 people, so far, that will be warmer this winter. ;)

If anyone else would like to donate, you can do so by sending the money via Paypal to [email protected].

Thanks again everybody, you will be blessed for your efforts.

Al, does have a point.

I've often wondered why homeless people would choose to live in South Florida.

I have family on the west coast, and homeless folks have it much better there.

Though it's still the hardest life to live either way.

Actually, Dwayne, you put that statement on the other post you started, not this one. I agree with you though.

Haha...no problem...it's Sat. after all...day of rest. I really am thankful that you headed up this effort. One of the most memorable moments I've had was when feeding the homeless in Atlanta in Nov, there was a guy with a thin blanket covering his shorts. That's all he had and the sad thing is that night was the first snow of that year. People like you keep people like that ALIVE. It's not just making people comfortable, you're responsible for saving these people's lives.

Ditto Dwayne. I think the problem is that as a Christian you're taught to give in reverence to God and it's between you and him. Also that you will get rewards from him for it, but if you do it for the recognition from others "you have received your reward" The difference is that's what Christians are called to do for God. That doesn't mean you can't give beyond that or that others need to do it for the same reason and in the same way.

So I can see why the response was posted, but it doesn't really apply to this situation. I think anytime someone does something good for another person (regardless of reason or way) it's a really good thing.

Al, like Dwayne said, you've helped 5 people, and frankly could have saved their lives. Good job!
