Adding Car Question

So I just got my insurance bill and my premiums went down to the lowest they've been in years. All negatives of my sloppy driving have apparently dropped off. Sweetness.

BUT, I got some tickets a year (or more) ago that aren't affecting my rates. I think that's the norm if I dont file a claim or do any policy changes and such- my question is if I add a car to this policy will they pull an MVR? I'm not planning on selling the car I have, but I've put 200,000 miles on it and am thinking I'm gonna need something else this year and the insurance cost is going to weigh heavily on how nice a ride I buy.

Not trying to defraud anybody, just curious how it works. I'm with Infinity.

Insurance companies randomly pull driving records on policy renewals (they don't always pull a new record every renewal). Significant policy changes may also cause this to happen, but not to often in my experience, with the exception of adding in accidents that occured and the insurance company is aware of.

adding a car usually doesn't result in a MVR pull.

They will usually only run an MVR when you add a new driver and they run it on that driver.

I was once told, that upon renewal, a carrier runs a MVR on 3% of the renewal book, so the odds of you getting hit are pretty Nil.
