Adobe Acrobat Help

Does anyone out there use Adobe (not just the Reader)?

I have documents that I have created so that they have fillable fields. I want to be able to type information into those fields and then save the document as a .pdf but locked so the client cannot alter those fields. Right now I have to print it to a .pdf, but I know there has to be a way to save it as another format.

Thanks,
Shannon

Re: Adobe Help

Not 100% sure this is what you are looking for, but you might be able to muck around with the Document Properties under File > Properties > Document Settings.

This allows you to set a password for various levels and one can be for 'Edits'.

Re: Adobe Help

You can lock the fields as you see fit. Just right click the field and choose properties.

Another way would be to NOT make a fillable field in a certain area and then just use the typewriter mode for those fields.

Re: Adobe Help

The easiest way to lock up the entire document against changes would be to print it as a pdf just like you are doing it. That will also embed your signature if you're using a signature stamp for yourself.

Re: Adobe Help

you can secure it so people can only fill it in and print but can not save with altered fields

Re: Adobe Help

There are also programs that will crack the password. Free programs are more frequently written for a Linux version than Windows.
