I am wondering what forms of online advertising people are doing, both paid and free, for their websites. I am looking for something that would allow me to target my state, considering I am fairly new and licensed only in my state. Any advice is appreciated.

SEO with google, yahoo by yourself or pay someone to do it.

It kind of depends on what you are looking to accomplish. For example, I like to be the top rated search on google,yahoo,msn,aol etc and the best way to reach maximum search engine rating and exposure is definitely through linkedin.com and activerain.com. There are a lot more but really what I'm getting at is networking sites rank supreme as far as search engines go.

In order to gain promotion on your site, submit it to google directories and you may also post on blogs and provide backlinks. The use also of keywords is helpful in promoting your site.
