I own a P&C agency in CA and was wondering if anyone could recommend the "must have" companies to compete in FL. I am looking to move to FL. Our book currently is 60%PL and 40%CL. However, to start over I would like to go after standard CL markets for the Commercial / BOP and Work Comp. My MAIN direct writers i have are Allied, Travelers, The Hartford, Mercury and Employers, Pref'd Employers, First Comp, Guard, AmTrust. Please do recomend the PL carriers as well as I have brought my wife into the business and she does the PL. thanks so much.

Looks like a pretty good roster for commercial lines. I don't know much about the players in FL but happened to have a booth next to these guys at 2 trade shows -

They are personal lines only and HQ'd in FL. From what they told me they are the best market for HO in the state. But on the flip side I think they also have a big chunk of the market share in the state...

In Florida it is extremely difficult to get appointments, especially the further south you go. below are some competitive personal lines carriers.
