You have the commissions paid current for 2014. I haven't had a reply yet.

Regarding: HHS sets enrollment rules for year two of Obamacare - The Washington Post

The last paragraph of the above news story states:

"In the May briefing for insurers, federal health officials also said that one enrollment avenue that was available last year — direct enrollment by insurance agents and brokers for customers who qualify for the tax credits — will be not be possible during the second enrollment period, because the computer capacity to make it work was not yet built."

1. What agent-initiated "direct enrollment" procedure is this paragraph referring to? Never heard of it. Could this be referring to websites like HealthSherpa, e-healthinsurance, etc.?

2. How could agent/brokers have used this direct-enrollment procedure during the last open-enrollment if the computer capacity to do so won't be built until after 2015 open-enrollment has passed?

Anyone here have knowledge of what this paragraph is describing???

They're talking about going to say the BC website and enrolling someone there.

How can something that was already used not be built?
In my opinion carrier direct with a visit to the federal site for subsidy is the way to go.

Same here. I did +99% of my subsidized enrollments at the carrier website. Only 2 were done at healthcare.gov (out of necessity) and both were issued with errors that had to be fixed.

I hope HouCoogster is wrong this time.

In NC we only had the two carriers participating for 2014. Neither one would allow us to go to the carrier to enroll. We had to use the market place website.
It was a disaster. Hell it still is!:D
Talking to other people in different states who could go direct to the carrier it seemed they had a much better time of it then I did here.
