Agent Registration for 2015 with CMS

I had 3 carriers with portals but not till late in the game, they were all waiting for gubberment approval. When they were up it was very simple. I did about 75% on Healthcare.gov so I have seen both worlds.

Doing things via the carrier's direct path at least gave me visibility to the client's information after the app was done. Anything on Healthcare.gov had to be confirmed manually by me calling my rep, having them manually check their lists to be sure the client's information was actually there & that my agent information was attached to the record.

With all of the other missteps, and agent "unfriendly" processes - it would be no surprise to have the only route to a subsidy be through Healthcare.gov. after all, small businesses who want a tax credit will be forced to go through the SHOP - even when they don't want to do so.

They just want all business to go through the main site -that's why they really never advertised that people who don't qualify for a subsidy could buy plans outside of the exchanges. They didn't want them to know.

Especially since everyone (the public, the press, etc) was focused on the number of enrollees. They can't toot their own horn on numbers of previously uninsured who went direct to the carriers.

And speaking just for me, that's where my new business came from. Unisured or high risk pool people who were not subsidy eligible (and have no chance of that changing). We went direct.
