there has been some question as to effect on agents commission. Here is the answer straight from bcbs of georgia's legislative update. The answer is no effect on ability to pay commisions.

Mandating a Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) set at 85% for large group and 80% for small group and individual markets. The MLR calculation would include premium used to pay medical claims and quality improvement activities, but would exclude federal and state taxes, licensing and regulatory fees, and expenses related to sales/marketing activity

The MLR calculation would include premium used to pay medical claims and quality improvement activities, but would exclude federal and state taxes, licensing and regulatory fees. Expenses related to sales/marketing activity would be included in the administrative expense part of the ratio resulting in pressure on health plans to reduce those expenses to comply with the requirement.

As an aside this country is being transformed in ways that will make it unrecognizable as the country I grew up in and have loved since birth. I hope in 5 years I can still be proud to be an American; because each day I'm losing more and more faith in this nation and its' commitment to liberty.

The economy will stay in the toilet so long as there is this much doubt in the future of this country. I don't know too many people who are inspired at this point about their future as a business person, myself included. The current group of people in charge are the least inspiring I have ever been led by.

This is not the change that people voted for. The change that the centrists voted for was to clean up the corruption in Washington, not to become a communist society. Americans need to take back their country one way, or another. The 2010 elections cannot come soon enough.

While all agents are worried about the changes in health care legislation and what it might do to their income, here's something else right up there too. I just received my employment tax notice and it is going from .15 to .72. My income has not gone up like that. I'm not filling a current staff vacancy and if anyone else quits for any reason I won't fill that position either. I may have to go home and work out of my garage by myself which would be better than paying out more than I take home personally. It's time for Texans to say enough is enough on extending unemployment benefits, those of us who want to stay afloat and give folks jobs won't be able to for long at this rate. THANKS OBAMA AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Sui tax went from .15 to 1.5 after one claim in 5 years. Most of the increase is due to the program being bankrupt.

Unployment benefit is a god given right now. Everyone qualifies.

It's real bad.

Inspiration comes from yourself, not an elected official. Some hard decisions need to be made in DC, but my guess is that it won't happen until forced upon us. Ironically, the Socalist Chinese will probably be the one's who tell us we can't afford our Socialst programs any longer.
