Looks like CMS is NOT offering certification like they did last year. As I thought, AHIP lost a lot of $$ with CMS doing it for free. AHIP has clout in WA DC. Anthem and Healthnet are offering discounts via their sites making it an even $100 is about as good as it looks this year. Just passed my AHIP and glad it's outta there!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't recertify you lose all your renewals! Someone brought up a good point at a meeting. What happens if you have a brain injury and can't take the tests anymore. I guess "Screw You!! on your renewals"

I brought up a similar question at a Care Improvement Plus meeting. The rep tried to fluff her way out of it by saying that CIP would pay the surviving spouse. When I asked (axed) where that was written, she couldn't answer and told me to call CMS. I had already done so and told her that CMS has nothing to do with it. She was perplexed and said that she would look into it. It's been one week and I have heard nothing from her.
What would happen if your spouse or significant other did the AHIP cert for you? After all, it's not a face-to-face. The only MAs that would concern me would be the ones that don't have online cert, where you must appear to see their ugly faces every year to recert.
