I have an interview with a Local All-State Agent

Over the phone they told be it was a Base Salary of $1,000 a Month and 10% Commission

I will ask about renewals etc at the interview

From reading on this forum it seems pretty low

Is this a good way to start out ???

Where about are you located in Michigan? I am located near South Haven and might be able to give you a few contacts?

That doesn't sound bad for All State.

That might be a great opportunity or it might be a terrible one. Any type of a base is more than most companies are going to offer you, so that's a plus.

If the agent is in his/her right mind they won't be paying you on the renewals. This board is very indy and that's a captive shop. If you want to start your own shop that's a very different situation than what they're offering.

If I were you, I would forget everything you've seen so far, go to the interview, figure out if you think it's a good fit for you, then come back/remember all of the stuff from the forum.

Alternatively, if you told the Allstate agent you didn't want the base and you wanted straight commission with renewals, you would have a very different conversation. I think you'd fail out of it under that scenario because most people would, but that's my thought process.

They said the commission is 10%

Thats what the agency gets so I would be getting the whole commission on each sale

I have to sell 20K a month

Should I take this , seems pretty good

I have other interviews and stuff lined up

It's really hard if that's low or not without knowing your experience.

Have you worked for other P&C carriers or did you just
pass the P&C exam?

Allstate guys are usually pretty good with paying producers in my experience.

Once thing is for sure....you will get the best P&C education working in an Allstate office.
