Don't know if you all have heard about this or have seen the commercials yet, but it looks like Allstate is offering refunds if you are dissatisfied with a claim for any reason:

Claim Satisfaction Guarantee | Allstate Insurance

Insurance Journal also has an article here: Reader Comments - Allstate Offers Claim Satisfaction Guarantee

I don't know how this will work in reality Allstate will either get burned for paying all of the credits (even after paying the loss) or for not paying after someone complains. It may draw some folks in for quotes though.

Hell, Allstate is trying to go belly up apparenly!

No real details in it, but say some smuck tries the first phrase, unhappy with the claims service......I can see someone saying, I left 2 messages for the adjuster and never got a call back, I am unsatisfied, I want more money....

It says for "any reason" LOL. I agreed with the payment amount but the rep didn't call me back in time so I get a full refund. Either way I think they are screwed either way if they pay out on all of the refunds or don't comply with the guarantee.

Good way to get a free 6 months of insurance and a brand new car:biggrin:...

They don't seem to be offering that guarantee to repair shops that handle Allstate claims. I know of two auto body / paint shops in the Denver area that will only take in work that's an Allstate claim if they have NOTHING else going on to the point of considering sending guys home early. Both owners said that no one in the known universe is as big of a ball busting PITA as the Allstate adjusters. Both have decided that Allstate is more hassle that it's worth to work with.

hence why they always garnish the top 3 places on any "worste Insurance providers list" not to mention their employee contracts are near criminal.

Maybe this is why Allsnake cut agents commissions, to have money for all the unsatisfactory payouts they have coming

You know, this actually makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Let say you have someone with a single car risk who pays $600 for six months of coverage at the time of the claim. Now lets say you are able to pay out the claim at $1,000 less than what would "satisfy" the customer. So you give them a premium credit for $600.

Keep in mind it's premium credit, not a refund, so it only works if they keep their insurance with you for the next six months at least. If they do, you're still $400 ahead. If they don't, you save $1,000.

People tend to leave a carrier shortly after a bad claim experience. The longer you can keep them on the books, the more likely they are to stick around. People have short memories.

Plus if they were at fault, their rate will go up and you'll make even more money. Plus if they don't switch immediately, it gives time for all their claims info and tickets to show up on their reports so they can't just get a better rate by lying to another carrier about their history.

Another big benefit of this program is attracting new business simply by even offering the guarantee.

And to top it off, knowing Allstate, they will as a previous poster stated find a way to recover the "cost" for this program from their agency force.

Allstate, not as dumb as you think they are.
