An "Honest" FE Mailer?

Have any of you guys tried a more straight-forward final expense mailer versus the regular $255 stuff?

You know, something that briefly touches on the benefits of final expense plans versus what most of us use.

Obviously returns would be down but I would like to think prospects would be more qualified.

Anyone have experience with something like this?

Best,
Dave

I came up with my own a few years ago and designed the mailer exactly as I would want it filled out by a prospect. Even had on there that by sending it in you were agreeing to have an agent contact you. I don't remember exactly how I worded it, but it was a great lead piece if you got a return.

I only did 3 1000 piece mailers with it. I got back 3, 3 and 4 or 10 leads from 3000. At that time it cost me $360/1000 so I had $1080 out or $108 per lead.

I sold 8 of them. Could have sold the other 2 if I did any ROP stuff. I would call that a mild success, but the number were not sustainable. At least I didn't think they would be.

That was before I was with EFES. I don't have to experiment with stuff like that anymore.

Main Street Power Mail has one that doesn't mention $255 or Social Security. It states clearly that it is about LIFE INSURANCE to pay final expenses. In my area the response rates are about comparable (maybe slightly better) to the older style lead card. But if you work it right, I think they deliver a slightly better lead.

Just went to website,

Two FE lead pieces

Both had "255" on card

Not one mention of the word(s) "Life Insurance"

How do you mean "not sustainable?"

I don't believe one could continue to sell 8 out of 10. My close ratio at EFES is almost 40% and it's the highest there by far. Is it really sustainable to close 80% of the leads over time?

I don't think so, but maybe I haven't been doing this long enough?

Well, considering your close to lead ratio is phenomenal with EFES's leads, AND you were pulling more qualified from your self-created mailer, perhaps it's a possibility?

I think you'd have to drop well more than 3k pieces to arrive at a thorough conclusion whether or not that's true.

Are there ANY seniors out there thinking SS would take care of their funeral?? I'm not sure I find it necessary to put that on the envelope.

Yes, it's a common thing among the people that do reply to FE mailers. Now, that's less than 1% of a targeted demographic, but that is how most of them think.

The ones that VA are even worse about knowing what the veterans benefits are or are not.

That's true and I'm sure I would do better with it than with the EFES lead piece. And you do need a larger sample, but newby is here too. He has done much experimenting as well and had the same kind of returns or even less. If you are only get 2 or 3 leads back from a mailer that now costs you over $400 you better sell them all.

That's the beaty of the EFES system. I don't have to fool with crap like that anymore. I don't have to try to come up new mailer ideas. I don't have to invest upfront on the venture and hope for returns.

I know one guy that put a $5 Walmart gift card for returns and still only got 1% returns.

I don't miss those days at all.

That is an unheard of closing ratio....CONGRATS JD!! I see why u only need 15 leads, while most would need 20-25 to get your production. That must mean u see 12 out of those 15 ppl (great appt ratio) and sell 1/2 or 6, wow!!

I know u dont door knock much, and I'd prefer not to, but from what Ive learned I think I will have to so I wont burn thru leads- I cant afford not to sell some. I know u posted about appt making somewhere on here....but if u had to boil it down to 1 or 2 things, how are u seeing such a HIGH % of ppl without them saying NO on the phone & much door knocking??

Please share....
