I get a call from my upline about needing me to go write an app for one of his other agents that had it pretty much sold over the phone but needed face to face.

I call the lady and setup an appointment. She tells me her aunt got put into the hospital and needs me to meet her there if I can. Sure no problem.

I sit down with her and her "mom". The app was for her mom (35k with foresters).

I go through the app and ask the "mom" all of the health questions, plus SSN, DOB, height/weight, ect... and she answers all of them.

Everything is going great and it is 100.23 per month and we have all been there..."SLAM DUNK"

That is UNTIL a cousin of the daughter walks by and tells the daughter "I am so sorry about your mother, how are you doing?" I'm sitting here wondering why she just didn't ask the mother how she was doing since she was sitting there...so I speak up and ask her...this isn't her mother sitting here? She said no that is her AUNT.

Come to find out, her mother was the one in the hospital with kidney failure and she had setup this whole thing and had someone prepped ready to give me the info and do the phone interview. I ALMOST got in big trouble.

I say this for one reason..."I don't do it all the time, but PLEASE check the insured's license when your writing an application." Some people will do anything to get insurance on someone.

On a side note....anyone want them as a referral??? :)

That's a great living example for checking the ID's!

I have checked them many times before, but I was in a waiting room of hospital and her "mom" was there so I was trying to just get it done fast. Those are the ones I should take WAY more time to get all the information and MAKE SURE I check the license. Could have been horrible!

I'm just gonna start taking their I'd from them like the voided check. Will have a stock of fake ids for people if you need one.

There really is no reason not to see an ID in a F2F situation.

Non-FE companies generally make you take down the info for any CV policy, whether they care about MVR or not.

Didn't you get them as a referral? Was the agent that had it "pretty much sold over the phone" in on the scam?:skeptical:
