Another Insurance Agent

I handle mainly group business, I like the franchises and I never leave a prospect without getting the name of their friends. Everyone knows someone!!

That's fantastic , It sounds like you already got a good handle on your marketing! The best lead you can get is a warm one from a client or colleague!

Sometimes we've tried some pretty wacky stuff. Mailers, Automated calls, Coupons , brochures , even booths at special events. etc etc.

Of course sometimes you get bored of trying the same things over and over! you want to try new things to add some spice to your work.

Recently i'm working with a competitor and we are going to create a periodical and put them if front of supermarkets. like i said its wacky but it does make the work a little more exciting.

Just joined the site...Officially opened my independent agency in KY on 01/02/2008. Just celebrating our 1.5 years as an Indy agency.
Me and one other licensed producer focusing on Personal Lines P&C and individual life insurance in KY and OH.
We have direct contracts w/ Travelers, Safeco, Kemper, Hartford, Progressive, 21 Century, Foremost, Hagarty & Foresters...the majority of our life comes from a GMA/wholesaler.
We work in an office located in a shopping center ($1000 sq ft) - No agency management systems yet...none needed.
We average about $45K/month in P&C ANNUALIZED premiums...plus random amounts of life production.
Average P&C commissions are 12% for new & renewal...and life commissions range from 80% to 105% of first year premiums.
Nothing sexy, but lots of work to be done to grow the agency w/ strong retention. Residuals are the only reason I pursued this opportunity.
We have all contracts for P&C directly with the carriers w/o any book to roll over.
Looking to add another producer by year's end. Might add Commercial agent, but probably another Personal Lines producer first. I pay base plus commissions, minus chargebacks for P&C that lapses in first 12 months.
Looking for good advice on growing the Personal Lines agency quicker...with quality!
