Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield

Beginning with applications received January 1, 2021, or later, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will begin applying the preexisting condition benefit waiting period (PreEx BWP) for Medicare Supplement policies.

When signing our Medicare Supplement enrollment applications, all members are made aware of the Preexisting Condition Benefit Waiting Period (PreEx BWP). While the PreEx clause is included in the application, it has not been imposed in the past. This will bring us in line with other competitors and helps us keep premiums competitive and more affordable for seniors.

I believe AARP already does this few other carriers too I think New Era

What I really hate is that anthem sends me the same emails for each state I am lic in so for every announcement I get like 6 emails plus various Managers from various states also send me multiple emails

Not understanding this . If i replace a med sup does this apply or does it mean if somebody had a med sup that lapsed and bought another one?

Does this apply when replacing coverage?

It applies when there is no cov for the previous 6 months all or part, If Part it applies in part

For instance, if one had 3 months cov then they only have 3 months wait

most companies do not do this but there are a few AARP, New Era come to mind

And it may be 3 months in some state or none in some states

However, most times if someone has issues they need to be covered right away they generally cant qualify anyway must be the reason I only run into an issue with this in NY with no underwriting in NY

Non pre Ex is covered right away
