I stumbled across this site and really appreciate all the great post.

I have a question for all of you guru's...I have been approached by an Farm Bureau agency in West Texas to become an agent for them. I have a really good job right now and had not even thought of changing, but I travel approx 1000 miles per week now (regional salesperson) and I am ready to be home with my family, and be more involved in community and church.

I have very limited knowledge on insurance, but am entertaining the idea of talking with them.

  1. Does anyone have info on what kind of income to expect (I know this depends on me) I am guessing it is pretty low the first few years and then grows over the years.
  2. Do they give you a book of business?
  3. Do they provide leads, or expect you to go out and find the leads?
  4. What is a typical work day like; working phone in office, out in the field prospecting...
  5. What kind of training do they offer/support
  6. Anything else you would like to add is much appreciated:yes:
