I have an 86 year old male that is looking for $225,00 worth of life insurance to cover his mortgage and his mortgage is for 20 years.

He is in good health overall.

The Issues:

-He does have something called "nutcracker esophagus" and takes "butorphanol" everytime before he eats. Has been taking that medication for about 5 years now.

-Takes Verapamil for Blood Pressure. Has been taking that medication for about 2 years.

-Lovastatin for Cholesterol and has been taking that medication for about 2 years.

Lastly 5'9 170 pounds and non smoker.

Any insurance carrier going to touch this guy?

How much is he willing to spend? ING, American General, John Hancock, and Transamerica will sell to someone age 86, but it won't be cheap....at standard rates he'd be paying $27-33k/year.

I've been dealing with a younger case (67) with a nutcracker esophagus. It can turn into a real underwriting pain based on the symptoms of the disorder. Tread carefully with that one.

You can also check on some fraternals as they often write up to age 100.
