Lafayette and Settlers for Final Expense? I spoke to a rep from one IMO this morning and they had Lafayette with street level of 90%. Seems low compared to other companies street levels for us bag carrying rooks. I have no problem earning my way up to a higher contract but didn't know if Lafayette just offers lower commisions in gerneral or if it's perhaps the IMO. I assume it's Lafayette based on the IMO rep suggesting Americo at 115%. I'll take the 90% if that's what it truly is mainly because I like how they come out on rates...Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Western Marketing has Lafayette Life. Try them out.Ask for Doug West. The contract may even be on their web site.

They are able to offer cheaper rates because they pay less commissions I guess.

But their rates look really cheap. Not sure about their underwriting.

Thanks for the info...Western was who I spoke with earlier. Very informative and answered all of my questions. Maybe I'm bass ackwards but I'd bend regarding the commision being low up front if they actually have somewhat friendly underwritting to go along with those rates. If they do, I think the commision bump will eventually take care of itself if I am sending them consistent business...

The underwriting is NOT friendly. They are a very good company for fully underwritten policies but for FE they are a trainwreck.

I've seen 100% contracts for them. I forget where. You can also contract direct with them and carry all their products. The commission is low but gets bonuses based on annual production. If you are going to write ALL your business with one company they are worth considering. For FE go with Settlers and Oxford and Monumental.

I was afraid that might be the case. Definitely don't want to wave the flag of one company but when I was drumming up some different rates on markingriffin's fe quote engine, Lafayette was back handing most other rates. They were usually at the top or close...But that isn't worth a wooden nickel to me or my clients if they are tough to get a policy to go through. I'm new to this field but my previous field I worked for ONE secondary finance company for years. Nothing was worse than having someone anxious to buy but the company underwritting wouldn't touch them...Would like to be cautious with that here.

Yikes...That doesn't sound good. Anybody (IMO )you guys would reccomend for Settlers ? Not looking for leads or hand holding. Just a street level contract and reasonable hospitality when I have questions .

For what state?

Ohio but my wife will be finishing college summer 2012. Then we are planning to move to NC. Would need a carrier that I can carry with me when I move. I see Settlers and Monumental are available in both.

You can go direct with them. There was also a guy from NC with a good Settlers contract named Tony Henry. You might look him up.
