Very good question. What websites and under which search terms gives you #1 ranking in google. It is not hard to have a website be #1 on google.

If you register a website called www.mynameisbobandiwantthistobenumberoneongoogle.com and I then search for "mynameisbobandiwantthistobenumberoneongoogle" I can guarantee it will be number one it but it won't be very valuable.

In my opinion hiring somebody for SEO is just not worth it. You can figure most of it out your self as it is actually pretty simple but does require work especially on the content side. If somebody tells you that they can make you number one on google they are lying and it is bogus. Whats worse they can even hurt you and your site by using tricks that google don't allow. That might work for a short while until google finds out you are using dirty tricks. Then they will ban you and remove you from your search results in short you are f-ed!
