Hello all, so I just passed my P&C Exam on Friday June 5th, and I am looking to hit the ground running, so please give me the 411 on which companies are willing to take new agents on, and provide training hopefully, I have been licensed in the Health and Life for the last 3 years, and want to change, any Help is greatly appreciated. I am in Texas.

Check out the non standards first. Progressive, Foremost, National General, Infinity, Dairyland, Titan, etc. You are gonna have a hard time getting the standard carriers without prior experience in P & C.

Especially in a market like Texas (which has a huge nonstandard market), one or two of the national nonstandard carriers will be nice to have, but you need to look at regional carriers. Gainsco, ACCC, Assurance America, UAIC, etc. They may not take you since you're new, or they may. If you're going to pick up a bigger national company, get Progressive. They will take just about any driver, no matter how many violations. They also have a "preferred" product, though it's not often competitive, at least in my area. Many carriers, even nonstandard, will decline a risk who has over a certain number of points.
Need a preferred market? Good luck. Look at Superior Access or Appalachian Underwriters. You won't have binding authority, but nothing's perfect when you're new. Even most aggregators will require experience.

Speaking of experience, that's something you should think about getting before opening a P&C agency. Try talking to some local agents to see if you can work out an agreement as a producer acting as an independent contractor. Make sure there is a clear and reasonable pathway toward keeping or buying back your book when it's time to move on.

So in the state of Texas I have an idea for you. If you are willing to be part of a group. I work with integra financial group out of huntinton tx. They have all the big carriers. You own your own book and can leave when you want. The best way to get into the PC world is to have help with the start up. It is a better conversation over the phone. But I have had success in my first 2 years. Call me if you want to talk 404-496-5888

I have sold P&C ans Life & Health with a captive company now for over 5 years. I am going Independent. I need to know the most affordable aggregators out there. I worked with Smart Choice but they kept making mistakes on the policy and cost me clients. I need something better than EzLynx. I do not like SIAA. They are very expensive and when talking to them, they are quite arrogant. Anyone out there that can give me real info?
