Are Health Insurance Agents Going to

Find out ways to make money, either by selling other insurance lines, or doing other things, like me I'm doing lead gen, did 76 health leads yesterday-all organic, got to find ways to make $$ outside of selling health ins......maybe selling mini meds? HA

I wonder how the transition will work? How long will we receive commission? Perhaps the carriers will just send us a "thank you for all your help but..."

Maybe we'll find out in December of 2013.

I figured many of the health agents would go to P&C since it seems like a logical transition. I could be wrong...

logical? mb it depends on ur POV, but i think thats too much work for too little commissions compared to what health agents are used to.

YGMY is probably correct on this one. P/C is something that takes a while to build up and does not allow advancing (as fas as I know). Expect a lot of service work: add/drop cars, change mortgagee's on homeowners, refax proof of insurance to mortgage, increase/decrease deductibles, add endorsements, etc. Much of this does not happen with life and health. They tend to be more hands off.

I did that for about 8 years, may have to consider it again if 2014 does not pan out.

P&C gives you a full 12 months of commission up front. I thought the whole point to health was the renewals as well?

Go work your current book with P&C then. Then after the exchanges occur your clients will have EVERYTHING with you and then will probably go to you for help with the exchanges, too.

Make them a client, why find new ones for the exchanges when you can get paid on your current clients?

As for the service work, many of the companies offer a call center. I think Travelers does, probably Metlife, Safeco does, Kemper, etc. so you can just refer people out to that number or to their online account for billing and some endorsement changes.

And there is NO service work with L&H? Like, none? I had a couple of things with life but I never did health, I usually farmed that out to a health specialist.

What till this new healthcare system do to health insurance agents?

I was planning on attending the life health annuity class in August........
