Are Health Insurance Agents Going to

What till this new healthcare system do to health insurance agents?

I was planning on attending the life health annuity class in August........

Still totally go. You definitely will like doing some life insurance on the side and the health license still lets you do things like offer disability, critical illness and hospital indemnity plans, etc.

At the very worst you get money for them in the meantime if the products become less useful in the future.

Thanks man. you're always helpful. We have been looking into it because of our payroll company along side workers comp has been growing and some companies that are we are doing now offer employer benefits.

My question will obamacare help health insurance agents or hinder them?

That's the million dollar question. It's been discussed all over here- it really is going to depend on the states and how they set up the exchanges from what I can see. Some could be more agent friendly and others might not be. There are no logistics yet on there but we're all pretty much assuming a flat dollar fee referral since it's pretty much just filling out some paperwork and no serious underwriting.

And there is NO service work with L&H? Like, none?

It depends on how much you want to build your book with referrals. There's a mountain of service work with p&c, as you know, but there is a great deal of time consuming service work with Health, for agents that are willing to do it.

I've devoted entire days to service work for existing health clients, and it does pay off. You spend a lot less time looking for new clients, and more time answering the phone for referrals.

I think the biggest difference - with p&c, you have to do it, and with health, it's up to you. I had a friend that would do nothing more than tell the people to call the carrier, he didn't last long in the biz. He's off doing a crappy job as a stock broker now, exact same attitude.
