But even agents with sales training click with different methods. I have a member who skunked on 50+ shared leads. Come to find he likes selling - not hunting people down. With LeadPod he's now selling.

Another member simply hates leads - period yet is now doing great with local marketing.

You can be skilled and have sales knowledge and still need to find a method that suits your personality.

Motivation is also a huge factor which some members here dismiss. That's fine....for them. Others, however, want a positive environment.

Great point, motivation and I'd add diligence to the mix also, many as you know have bad habits.

Oh and that's right we have to talk about Leadpod.

Note Somarco buying shared leads only and Moonlight never buying a lead. The other Bob will also never buy a lead yet Chumps only buys leads.

The source of leads has nothing to do with mentoring. There are things that can be gleaned from each of the above that have nothing at all to do with actually learning the business.

Everyone who mentored me never once showed me how to find prospects. And some of the folks who gave me useful information never realized what I was taking away from our encounters.

And no Arnie, that does not mean I am a thief . . .

I am a student of personal interaction and carefullly observe how people interact and exchange dialogue in social and business settings. Our business revolves around communication. If you cannot effectively communicate with your client both of you have lost.

Perhaps one of the best "natural salesmen" (if there is such a thing) was genuinely interested in soliciting opinions from others, a careful listener who took copious notes, and then crafted a solution that pleased everyone. I was blessed to have worked beside him for almost 8 years and the things I learned simply cannot be taught.

Every solution was centered around meeting in the middle ground where no one feels left out or as if they had given up more than they gained.

The only people he could not sell were the ones who felt everything was a battle and the one with the most toys wins. Of course those were usually the ones who eventually went down in flames as their business model was extremely self centered and they eventually lost everything they had gained in their conquest.

The source of leads has nothing to do with mentoring.

This is not correct.

Some very strong seasoned agents do not perform well on shared leads where they do perform well using other marketing sources.

If you mentor on all aspects of this business but stop there then your student is left with "ok....but when I wake up tomorrow how do I get prospects?"

At that point your student wants to mirror what you're doing - which may or may not be a proper fit.
