Autodialer

Just open 4 different skype accounts and log into them as needed, rotatoe...

Sounds like an expensive way to waste time. At that point you might as well get vonage or magicjack. You're still only dialing a line at a time at that point. Why not use a predictive and make twice as many calls using the same amount of time?

Auto Dialer and Predictive Dialer are two different services. It depends on what you want to do and how you want to. As several posters mentioned above, Auto Dialer is just a simple dialer. It will dial only one number at a time. It is something similar to a using a Quick Dial key on your phone; you don't need to dial 10 digits manually. Or if you use a touchscreen smart phone such as iPhone or NexusOne, the phone number in the email can be dialed by tapping on the same.

Starters use autodialers and grow up to predictive dialers, if required. Predictive dialer is typically used in much larger settings and when the call volume is high.

Skype, Vonage and Magic Jack are alternatives for traditional phone lines. A major advantage of using Skype is that you can make calls from the browser easily, without integrating it with your lead management / tracking software. Whereas other autodialers should be supported by your software, if you use one.

If an agent is generating (via internet) or buying 10 or 20 insurance leads, a simple auto dialer should be more than enough. Hope this makes sense!

Autodialers, sometimes referred to as a voice broadcaster can be utilized to B2B with no legal ramifications.

Towards a consumer - the new systems just have a telemarketer come on when a consumer answers and simply says - "please listen further for an important announcement" - or - "please hold the line for a money saving opportunity" - or - a dozen other ideas.

A predictive dialer has an agent tied down during the process, whereas one could be playing golf and have a live transfer come in via a dialer.

Technology changes daily.

Well put...

Does everyone know that an autodialer is built into each Windows OS? What makes any commercial autodialer worthwhile is its programmed ability to manage call lists, manage prospect info, store and recall stats, etc. You pay for what you get.

Agents starting out with a small budget do often buy the cheapest they can get away with, and rightly so.... with only a small business, you don't need all the fancy features of a predictive dialer, so why pay for it?
