It just had to happen... Bankers Life and Casualty Company and Humana announced a strategic alliance to offer Medicare Advantage Plans through the Bankers' Career Agency Force!

A strategic alliance under which Bankers will offer Humana's Medicare Advantage plans to its 1.4 million policyholders and consumers nationwide through their career agency force.

Coventry is out! :skeptical:

Bankers will offer Humana through its' 5,270 agents in 244 sales offices across the United States.

Quote: Lance Hoeltke, Vice President of Strategic Alliances with Humana. "We're proud to be in partnership with such a high-caliber team of sales professionals." :D:D:D

I just spoke to my Manager and he knows nothing about this. The news release is on my agent website. My reaction was WTF!!!!

Thanks for the heads up.

Why would they tell him?

All insurance companies will tell you all day long about how "committed" they are to their agency force.

The truth is that they will do anything to increase their distribution, without regard to the effect on agents. They don't care about you.

Time to go independent?

My thoughts exactly! I need to wait a couple of months until I get my youngest son through some medical issues. Thought about filing for FMLA to CMA while I make the transition. Need the Health insurance right now.

Some of those Bankers agents are like pit bulls when they're trying to sell their Med supp, I can just imagine what the poor senior faces

I had heard about this right before I left.
As of today, on their agent website, there is no mention of this; not even that there were ongoing talks and only found out via the Branch Manager.
Usually when info is not dissiminated to all in the company, it is because they are still going through contract negos, which is why I was not sure if this was even going to happen before the Sept-Oct timeframe.

The reason Humana is doing this is Bankers Agents have been writing Coventry PFFS plans for a few years. So that means come Jan. thousands of folks will be switched to Humana.

The funny thing is Bankers was paying agents like 60 bucks if you switched a Bankers Med Supp to Coventry PFFS with no renewals.
