BCBS Doesn't Consider this a Qualifying Life Event.

My clients Aetna policies (individual) are being canceled and Blue Cross says tat is not a qualifying event

Hey Sam,
If you're referring to our home state's BCBS of Illinois, the company DOES consider this year's Aetna, Humana, etc.. involuntary policy terminations as triggering a Special Enrollment Period. The enrollment window is 60 days either side of the involuntary termination date.

Attached to this post is the official Special Enrollment period guidelines for the Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC) Blue Cross companies..(TX/IL/MT/NM/OK) for your reference. See Item #10 on page 11.

I have converted 2 of the AETNA terminations to BCBS-IL with no problems and will be doing one tomorrow for an involuntary IHC health insurance cancellation.

Sam, did you TRY to do it and the BCBS or HC.gov website rejected your attempt? You didn't elaborate on exactly how you were given the impression that BCBS isn't honoring Special Enrollment Periods triggered by involuntary policy cancellations.
