BCBS-Illinois: Commission Promotion / New Same-Sex Law.

we got a fishing call from one of our reps today talking about how slow they are, but then he says, don't get me wrong, we are okay and I know we are not the low price leader anymore, BUT he is just wondering: is it slow over there?

If they counted the uninsurables you send so they can qualify for PCIP their business activity should be on par with last year.

I got an email from my BX rep last week thanking me for sending them business.

OK, it was not addressed to me personally, and if it had been I would really be suspect, but still, this has never happened before.

UHC/GR never calls any more.

Cigna calls, but mostly to find out where I am placing business and to find out who is doing what.

Aetna never even bothers to call. Neither does KP.

How about Humana and Coventry? We have sent in about 3 PCIPs so far to different companies, not sure how we pick which one. Usually it is the one with the easiest app (??) and is the quickest to turn around the decline.

Humana seems satisfied with my production.

Coventry and I got a divorce a few years ago.

I got custody of my renewal commissions. They get to deal with the problems they created that caused me to start seeing other carriers.

So MLR is 80% but in IL you can still get 15%???

So why is TX only 8%? Sounds like we are subsidizing the commission in IL with our sales here in TX.

How can the parent company be doing this? What am I missing?

Because BCBSTX is in a position to screw agents more and is doing so at will.

Heard that not only does BCBS-IL pay first-year commission on the full policy premium, but also after 2, 3, or 4 years of premium increases as well. If so, that's great. (None of the few I've written are over the 1 year mark yet.)

Every company I've had experience with pays X% commission based on the first year premium, which is always lower than renewal premiums.
