My mom's policy is worded the same way, but her bed reservation benefit is 30 days. To the hilt, I'm challenging the LTC provider over the same matter. Moreover, I'm retired enjoy fighting insurance company BS at every opportunity.
Customer relations aside, I'm holding to the below definition of an SNF.
"Skilled nursing facility care, which takes place in a hospital’s extended care wing or in a separate nursing facility, provides high levels of medical and nursing care, 24-hour monitoring, and intensive rehabilitation."
If my mom's SNF facility was operated by the hospital, I'm wondering if the LTC could say my mom wasn't "hospitalized". The physician ordered post "hospital" SNF care is absolutely medically necessary to treat acute illness. Medicare also recognizes SNF care under such circumstances as covered under Hospital Insurance under part A.
