Best P@C Niche Market

Re: Best P@C Nitch Market

The answer depends on:

- Where you are
- What carriers you have access to
- What you have a passion to sell
- Who you know

For instance, if you are a private pilot, and belong to the local pilots club, you might do well selling airplane insurance.

If you are an avid bowler, you might do well focusing on bowling alleys.

If you are a motorcycle enthusiast and belong to the local clubs, you could sell custom motorcycle insurance.

If you are a drunk and have a few DUI's, maybe you can focus on nonstandard auto insurance (okay, the DUI's are not a requirement for this :) )

Niche marketing is an awesome way to go, but, its up to you to find it based on what you are comfortable with.

If you reside in an area with a lot of renters, market renters insurance. If you are near a lot of boating communities, market personal watercraft. Etc, etc etc......
I don't really see a reason to specialize in a certain niche for P&C as everyone needs it, one way or the other.
It's not like the great "Diabetic Life" niche that many champion.

As both other posters above me have said, it is all about finding something that you can do well with depending on the circumstances you have to work with.

For myself, as my name might imply, I insure a bunch of country clubs. Different reasons go into this. For one, I've been playing tournament golf all my life and have a lot of contacts across my state. For two, I speak their language. For three, I've got a market that is strong for them.

Find something you know and your carriers do well and hammer it to death.

The reason to specialize isn't for what you sell, its for how you market. Everyone sells home and auto, but you need to rise above the noise. Having a niche market helps tremendously.

Once you have the audience, then you can sell the specialty, and the home and the auto.

Its actually almost exactly like the diabetic life. The person has a problem that a lot of people ignore/can't solve. By specializing in that area, you can obtain an audience to present your product.

Re: Best P@C Nitch Market

a nitch is something that YOU KNOW about,

were you a CDL truck driver, then there is your nitch, did you work in or manage restaurants? Then THAT is your nitch.

a nitch is something you can discuss in DETAIL with the owner.

You dont pick it, it picks you

Re: Best P@C Nitch Market

A niche is a specialty (or subset of the) market. You choose to market this or other niches. You don't have to already know about it but be willing to learn everything you can about it. As a specialty market, many ignore it so the more you know about it, the more you can be looked upon as the expert. Saying you don't pick the niche, it picks you...is simply ludicrous.
Of course, if you were in a specific industry, marketing to that industry makes total sense if that industry is part of a niche.
I managed a restaurant when i was 19 but that doesn't make selling insurance to restaurant managers a "nitch".

If you have a heart issue do you go to your primary care or your cardiologist? If you had a lung issue would you talk to the cardiologist about that issue as well, or a pulmonologist? They specialize to be an expert and people go there, but might in turn lose business for other fields. It's a give and take, but you need to be knowledgeable in an area for it to be a niche.

For me, that would be pharmacies. Others, it could be construction, hospitals, restaurants, or javelin catchers.

Go be the expert so the clients who know each other say they have a guy that specializes in it. You go to others that specialize in that area as well like attorneys and accountants so you have a nice circle for referrals.
