Best Simple Annuity Book to Learn Them

What is the best simple annuity book to learn how they work, etc? I'm not interested in variable annuities. I was told that the "Non Qualified Annuity Handbook" is the best to learn the ins and outs of annuities, but it looks to be too much. I'm looking for a more simplistic read. Any suggestions?

Start with the Buyers Guide to Fixed Annuities put out by the NAIC. It is made for consumers so it is about as simple as you can get (although nothing is made too simple on this topic).
