In case you had any doubt, there are some big changes in health insurance related Internet searches over the past year ("health insurance quotes" is up 45%) with corresponding drop to the major carriers' websites (UnitedHealth is down 29%). The researchers say it's caused by our current growing unemployment rate.

That's certainly got to be part of it, but it doesn't explain why searches for "COBRA" have increased 176% in the past year. I imagine there's an equivalent increase going on in state-specific and long-tail search terms.

I take it as a good sign.
